Simple Past and Present Perfect Drill
It is very important to distinguish between periods of time that have ended and periods of time that are still in force.
a: My boss called me this morning
b: What did he say to you?
a: He reminded me that the meeting will take place next week instead of this morning.
All the above verbs (except "to take place" are in the simple past because the telphone call with the boss had taken place in the morning, and the conversation in hand took place this afternoon, and reported on what had happened in the morning.
This drill reinforces the point and gives practise in using the participle form of irregular verbs.
